A small dove; 23-24 cm TL; 82-158 g; sexes are alike in appearance. Head and neck: Forehead greyish brown; crown and nape brown; back of neck and upper back iridescent bronze green and purple; black stripe below a white stripe below eye; eye outer ring violet, inner ring pinkish purple; skin around eye bluish green; bill black; throat reddish brown.

Body: Back, rump, and wing covert brown; breast light reddish brown; abdomen yellowish brown brown.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet pink to red; tail brown with grey tip.
